Decent set list that, suprised with no Pretzelbodylogic? You'd think he'd want that in there just being released? Strange, unless he isnt confident in the track itself

it was played over the speakers as an intro. Strange it wasn't in the set. No Screwdriver too.

Great hearing about how the shows are going. Must ask though, and it could be that I missed it, but is anything actually likely to be announced? Has anything been announced - not general articles or rumours, but definite venues and dates? Family stuff and other people at work taking time off are now beginning to eat into any potential for me to go down to London so if the cryptic hints mixed with people bullshitting on Twitter doesn't become more official I might just book some time off next week and get down there on a hope and a prayer. But obviously if an announcement is actually going to happen then waiting would make more sense. Anyone know which it is?

Nope no announcements or anything, rubbish!

Thinking myself about booking weds/thurs off and heading down to london, but would be my luck its nights he's having a rest or something haha

Cheers, thought as much. Yeah that's the dilemma, thinking if you went down it'd be a safe bet of something happening but if you pick the wrong night you've basically wasted your money and holidays. I might stick in Monday to Thursday next week and go on Sunday, but then the hotels for four or five nights would make it silly money even if any gig he plays is a tenner. If there's no news tomorrow I'll just book something though as we've been in a pattern of 'tomorrow is the day, honest' since Monday. Decision time!

I suppose its Prince and he'll play what he wants, but from a promotional perspective his set list doesnt really big up his new material. Glad you managed to get in anyway, starting to feel like maybe i wont get to go to any being up north and he keeps it tickets on the door, so frustrating.

Fantastic show, one track you missed that I remember off the top of my head was Stratus.

A very good version of Pretzebodylogic (PBL) was played over the PA before he came back out for Bambi and the girls came out to the front of the stage and took some applause. I quite like PBL apart from the mesy sounding chorus but this version was many times better, much more live sounding.

Just about made it in for the show. So many people pushed in ahead of us, the queue was expanding sideways constantly. I don't think many people made it in behind us. Mind you, I can't complain too loudly about the pushers as my wife did actually make it and joined me about 6:50.

The whole queuing procedure was a shambles. The pushing in was bad but what happened when the doors open was terrible. The queue basically disintegrated and everybody ran. We then experienced about an hour of being crushed with intermitent surges which moved us slightly further forward but lead to increased crushing after each surge. When we made it to the front of the queue the reason for these surges became apparent. They were letting people through in stages, so about 20 people would go through and then they'd stop people until there was a clear way for the next group and which would go through and then create the next surge. Never had such a bad crowd experience, even being on the pitch at Wembley stadium was nothing like this.

There were some amusing moments though, like the woman that was going mad at the bloke behind her as if it was all his fault and nothing to do with the 1,000 people pushing him.

Prince was already on stage by the time we got in at 8:20 and was half way through Funk n Roll, which I was absolutely gutted to miss. Not so bothered about missing LGC but realy pissed to have missed the start of the gig after queueing for 6 hours and 40 mins! Actually thought I may have missed more but glad to see that wasn't the case. hopefully now that Prince doesn't mind people sharing his music someone will have recorded it so that I can get to hear the bits I missed at the start.

So, I stood for 6 hours and 40 mins in the cold, got crushed for the last hour and missed the start of the show. My legs ache, my back hurts and I'm going to crash out asleep very soon.

Was it worth it? It was, I got to see Prince for £10 and it was amazing.

Would I do the same again knowing what I know now? Hell no.

Thanks for the set list. I'm sure there was a couple more in there!
Queued for 4 1/2 hours, didn't get wet! , security and organisation was a shambles, Got in just as She's Always... was starting. great 1 hour show, encore, then Bambi as a bonus. So great for people that there was a second show!

3EG totally ripping it up. P looked like he was enjoying himself immensely. Fantastic show. Would I do it again? Yes, but not tomorrow!

Now looking forward to some ticketed shows....

Having now scratched the itch, I can say with balance.....exciting as it is, the organisation was a shambles. There were no where near enough security, and the lack of at least some planning makes very hard for fans to plan anything. I was really glad to hear that there was a second show for those that didn't get into the first one. I fear on another night, that might not happen. Then it will be bedlam.

Yeah, the crush wasn't fun. When people ran for the doors two guys tripped and fell and could have got trampled on.

Just got back from Camden. Arrived at 2pm and waited in the queue for over 5 hours. It was cold and wet, but I met some brilliant people which made the time pass quickly....thanks guys. Can't remember your names, but one of you brought a load of KFC, a couple of you got some bottles of wine and beers. there was a guy from Coventry and one from Northampton I think .... hope your car wasn't clamped and thanks to the guy who had the 10 year old daughter (who wasn't with him), for making sure I got in ok.

The security was appauling, people pushing in the queue and when the doors opened the crowd just legged it pushing and shoving. There were crowd surges every time people where let through the barriers.

But I got into the first gig. Paid £10 at the door and watched an absolutely awesome show with brilliant set. Prince was on top form and I was so impressed with 3rd Eye Girl. Fantasticly raw performance.....loved it

Can't wait to do it all again !!

so, what is the answer 2 the question of U

We missed Hop Farm cus my boyfriend got stung by some crazy insect and his foot swelled up like a balloon. This was about two hours before we were due to drive there. He couldn't drive.

Anyway, yeah I will be doing what you have suggested. Hopefully will get lucky with a Prince show at some point this weekend. Good luck.

Sounds very badly organised, and very dangerous. if there are reports of orgers being hurt how many people not on forums got crushed and hurt I wonder. Very very scary. Very short (tho brilliant) set list. In for a tenner or not, I'd prefer full price and a normal length concert definitely. Princes manager needs to get the finger out, not be distracted by the unveiling drama, and concentrate on ensuring adequate security for public safety. More important than any other publicity nonsense.

My tuppenny worth, and I'll try to stick to facts (as much as I'd like to give opinion):

I got in for the first set after 8pm, P-man started playing pretty much as soon as the first 200 peeps were in. Great set list, awesome guitar playing but... he was playing to a certain crowd, I can't honestly say they were fans, (of course some of us were fans but most people...)

I queued for ages, and though I got my gf to join (yup, one q-jumper, soz peeps ok two, double soz) I have to say maybe there was some top-down thought in effect.

Because after Bambi (I can now die happy) everyone was ejected. Every last mofo, and too right and all: no one wanted to sing him out; no chants, no stamping. I'm no cynic but all were Gen Y spectators refusing to do anything. (I was the loudmouth mofo in the fedora trying to get a chant going. By the way.)

Anyway, I had a feeling it wasn't over (I know a fake-roadie-clear-up when I see it) and I sincerely hope all the real fans got a real show when peeps were ushered back in. In fact I don't yet know if there was another show but all the hipster music-industry twats were ushered away with me and I'm not complaining.

I rocked upon a rumour, yes there were less deserving fools who got in alongside me, but I hope those that came after got a real show. And weren't too cool to make it happen with their singing and dancing.

Oh and there was definitely some extra wanky PR wankers milking our funk-love with some video recording of the queue. Fuck em, fuck em all. I'm almost certain that His Royal Badness despises them too.

This wasn't a gig as much an industry show. He's playing the game, no?

What an insane night... Just as my wife said let's go to bed at 10pm I made the crazy move to drive over to Camden which took about 20 mins... After parking got in the queue at about 10.25... As it approached 11pm I didn't think we would make it then... Whoosh I was in and Prince and the band walked on stage as soon as I grabbed a pint.. Amazing nearly (by a few mins) 2 HOUR set. I got a set list which had 12 tracks but it was way more... When doves cry and sign from the sampler set were incredible and the highlight of the night for along with THE MAX which was an absolute beast.

So happy, amazing night to rival some of favourite p gigs... Something tells me he's not staying long, of he does more - GO!!

I think he started with the same songs as #1 (not sure if it was the same order):

Let go crazy

funk n roll

shes always in my hair

i could never take the place

Guitar

fix ur life up

something in the water(amazing version, started on piano ended with great guitar solo)

Plectrum Electrum

Then (not sure again about the order):

Crimson & Glover

Dreamer

Play that funky music

Prince on bass, instrumental jam which went into

The Max (very very slow version at first)

Purple Rain

Pretzel song on the PA with Prince singing along, then they picked up their instruments, started playing along which went into

Stratus

Sampler madley (WDC, SOTT, HHQ, Hot Thing etc)

Well, that's how I remembered it, may have forgotten one or two. Great stuff, although I was surprised how many people went nuts when he started PR and later when he hit the first notes of WDC, but decided to have loud conversations during Something in the water. Oh well.

Just back from the second show now. Do no want to come across smug in anyway, but this is how it played out. I'd been on here all day, and monitoring twitter, umming and ahhing and at 9.45pm decided to get a cab and just go. I got to camden at 10.40pm and the queue was minimal... I must have waited 10-15 minutes with some very friendly people, paid cash on the door (no slips needed!), strolled up to an empty bar, got a drink, turned around and P walked out cool I couldnt have been easier. The set list is as above..... no Bambi though, which was a massive shame personally but it was a f*cking awesome show.... only downer was some of the crowd, they didnt have a clue with recent songs or even old classics, and people around me were dead for call and response. I grabbed a set list and will upload tomorrow... I have the P bug all over again.... biggrin

So glad you got in and having seen the set list, what a show! My brother managed to see both shows, and I'm so stupid for not doing the same as you did. I'm not sure how my brother would have got home at 1 a.m. back to Kent, he's probably sleeping in the street somewhere right now but I hope to catch up with him later and get the low down. After the first show he called me saying that he was thinking about whether to line up again for the second show and I told him to get back in line! I bet he's glad he did now, sounds awesome.
